V.I.P. Stateroom >> Closet Project Description

Utilizing space.

Wasted Space

The amount of space in a boat is very limited. This space above the hanger is wasted space. In additon, because of the boat's flair, hanging clothes longer than 12" gets scrunched on the back wall.
Moving the closet rod up 5" took 3 minutes. This move just made sense.

Wasted Space

To satisfy our curiosity, we removed the back cedar panel for a look. We found more space. A lot more space, really. We removed the battens and relocated them about 4" back at the bottom of the closet and even more at the top.
Here, the closet with back wall and rod have been moved. There is now room enough for any shirt to hang without getting scrunched, room for a possible shoe rack, and because the clothes will now hang higher, there is room under them to store additional items.
